DETROIT -- Dillon Dingler will be behind the plate for the Detroit Tigers on Monday afternoon.
The Tigers (34-20) open a three-game series with the San Francisco Giants (31-22) at 1:10 p.m. at Comerica Park.
Catcher Jake Rogers; infielder Andy Ibanez; infielder/outfielder Matt Vierling; and outfielder Justyn-Henry Malloy will be available off the bench. The full lineup is below.
Tigers right-hander Keider Montero (1-1, 5.28 ERA) will face Giants righty Hayden Birdsong (2-0, 1.91).
Montero filled in for Casey Mize for a couple of starts during Mize’s brief stint on the injured list. Now he’ll slide over to do the same for Reese Olson, who’s out with finger inflammation.
Birdsong, 23, is making his second start of the season after opening the season in the bullpen. He played college ball at Eastern Illinois with Tigers shortstop Trey Sweeney.
